Water Meter Box, Valve Box, Irrigation Box….the thing in the ground with a green or purple lid. Whatever you prefer to call them makes no difference. Bees love to build hives in them no matter what the name!

So I killed the bees. How does one remove the comb and sticky mess?
Hi Melissa. One word: Carefully. Use trash bags underneath and try to scrape the comb off in one single swoop. Do not to tear into or break up the honeycomb. Removing hives is a messy job. If you don’t do it in a careful and methodical manner, it can cause the honey to spread everywhere. If that happens, it can make your bee problem worse. The scent of the honey will attract robber and scout bees from other hives nearby.
