It’s a new year and all is well at the Bee Clinic. For those of you who don’t already know, the Bee Clinic is the place where Bee Best Bee Removal relocates 99% of all it’s bee rescues. The bees are rehabilitated so they are more docile and less aggressive. You see, many local farmers want bees…but not wild bees.
The reason most farmers do not want wild, feral bees is because over 70% of the bees in San Diego are African Hybrid bees. In short, our wild bees tend to be more aggressive than European honeybees. So the Bee Clinic is a place where our donated wild bees can be Re-Queened with certified Italian Queens. This breeds out the aggressiveness of the colony and makes it easier for local farmers to keep bees on their property.
Take a look at the clip below. It’s a clip of a feral swarm that was rescued and is being dropped off at the Bee Clinic.
As you can see it’s another great day at the bee clinic. Last year hundreds of swarms and hives passed through the clinic before they found their forever home at a farm. We are hoping that the rainfall this year will bring even more swarm rescues than last year. For now, the Bee Clinic is ready for a new swarm season and ready to take in more hives and swarms for rehabilitation.
