One of the great things about working at Bee Best Bee Removal is that we get to help save the bees here in San Diego. There are a few different ways we are able to remove bees in a humane way. Sometimes we are able to smoke the bees into a box. Other times we can shake or drop them into a box if they are docile and not too aggressive. The other option is by using the Hive Saver Pro Vac. Take a look at the video clip below to see the whole process from start to finish. There was a hive inside the cap of a utility box. We were able to remove the bees alive and scrape out the hive from the cap of the utility box. Afterwards we drove the captured bees to a bee farm where the beekeepers will eventually re -queen the colony with an Italian queen.
Removing the feral hybridized queen and replacing her with a certified Italian queen reduces the aggressive characteristic associated with wild bees. It’s safe and responsible beekeeping like this which has helped our native Bee Populations in San Diego County from becoming fully Africanized.
So what do you think of the Hive Savers Pro Vac? We think it’s a pretty great tool for saving the bees!
