In El Cajon last night, three people were rushed to the hospital after being stung multiple times while backyard beekeepers were working a hive box.  The details of this news story are not yet clear. We don’t know if the beekeepers were negligent, or if this incident was an accident. The story serves as a warning on how careful and diligent beekeepers need to be while maintaining a hive box on their property.  Backyard Beekeeping requires extensive knowledge and maintenance in order to be run safely. Re-queening feral bee colonies reduces bee aggressiveness, and is an important factor in the safety of maintaining beehives.  Most backyard beekeepers are responsible people,  dedicated to the dilution of feral Hybridized Bees by practicing safe and responsible beekeeping.
